Life as a Children’s Book Author
Vera has always had an interest in becoming a children’s book author. She enjoys creating fun stories that captivate the hearts of little kids and she continues to work hard to make her dream into a reality.
Award Winning Author Vera Harris' first books, "A Bee on My Bike" (2014) and "Zach and His Cat" (2015) both appeared in Storymonster.com, a family magazine. "Where Shall We Go?" was also featured on Reading with Your Kids Podcast and is a Certified Great Read by Reading with Your Kids (#RWYK) and was awarded Author Talk About It Book Award. "Monica and Michelle Travel the World" was released April 2018. This book is also a Certified Great Read by Reading with Your Kids (#RWYK), a Finalist in the 2019 Best Book Cover Award by The Indie Author Legacy Award (IALW), a 2019 Finalist for Joy & Company Christian Literacy Award and was awarded Honorable Mention 2019 Royal Dragonfly Book Award in the Picture Book Age 6 and Above Category and a Finalist for Author Elite Award.
"M.J. and the Big Kitchen Window" won Honorable Mention in the Pets Category for 2020 Royal Dragonfly Book Award and "Monica and Michelle Travel the World" for Picture Book Age 6 and Above Category.
"M.J. and the Big Kitchen Window" received the 2020 Kids Shelf Cover Design Award, the 2022 Purple Dragonfly Book Award in two categories, and the 2022 The Literary Titan Award. My Mom has Superpowers: A Kids Book about Faith and Believing won 2022 Kids Shelf Cover Design Award and was #1 Best Seller during its first month of release.
Vera also wrote and published a short fiction book titled, What? Jury Duty!
Personal Life
Vera enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my family, most of whom fondly call me “Sister.” Aside from these hobbies, she also loves working in her church where she serve as President of the Women's Ministry, Pastor's Aide Ministry President, and is a voice for Social Causes.
Vera is a retired combat veteran where she served the U.S. Army with honor and distinction. Her dedication earned her two Bronze Star Medals, Army Commendation with "V" Device (Valor) and the The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (GWOT-EM) among other awards, commendations, medals and honors.
Writing With Passion
It is her intent to encourage children to enjoy reading their favorite Children's Books.
